We are looking for an experienced risk professional to join our firm and lead our risk and compliance program.

**About the Role**

The Head of Risk and Compliance is responsible for developing, documenting, and maintaining a risk management framework that will identify, assess, and mitigate risks that could have a significant impact on the reputation, financial stability, and overall success of the firm.

Based in our Brisbane office, you will report into the Chief Operating Officer, and work closely with Partners and leaders of the firm. Your key responsibilities will be:

- Client Risk Management: ensure client risks are proactively managed in relation to conflict identification and resolution, cost agreements, client onboarding and delivery, partner departures and other client or matter transfers.
- Risk and Audit Committee (RAC) setup RAC including scope, remit and operating rhythm in partnership with the CFO coordinate the firm’s RAC, ensuring that current and future risk is identified, assessed and any mitigation or remediation strategies are tabled for consideration.
- Policies and Procedures: develop, document, and maintain all policies and procedures including but not limited to, partner exits, the various secure ID platforms, business continuity, modern slavery, counter terrorism, ESG, WHS, OHS, conflicts, ISO certification, cost and consultancy agreements.
- Firm Insurance: ensure continuous coverage of the firm’s professional indemnity and general business insurance policies including claim notifications, management and investigations, maintenance of internal registers, coordination of policy renewals and compliance training for employees.
- Compliance Management: ensure the firm is compliant with all relevant regulations and standards relating to the Queensland Law Society, Legal Practice Board of Western Australia, privacy act, modern slavery act, anti-money laundering and terrorism act and any relevant ISO certifications.
- Business Continuity and Crisis Management: develop, test and implement (where required) the firm’s business continuity and crisis plans, ensuring all Partners and leaders are aware of their roles and can discharge their responsibilities.

To be successful in this role, you will have a deep understanding of risk management techniques and methodologies, and the regulatory and compliance obligations of a legal practice. You will have strong experience in identifying, and assessing risks, articulating the potential impact of those risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- You will have strong analytical and critical thinking skills and be skilled at managing key stakeholders and projects. You will also have excellent attention to detail and document management practices.**About us**
