The Role
The Receptionist is the first point of contact with parents, students, visitors and contractors. The
Receptionist communicates in a warm and welcoming manner. The Receptionist also conveys a high level of
competence and efficiency.
- Duties- be the first point of contact for all visitors to the School, providing a welcome response to parents,

students and visitors and ensuring visitors sign in the visitors’ book and directing and assisting as
required;
- be responsible for the telephone switchboard, with assistance from other clerical staff as required;
- ensure all telephone enquiries are transferred to the appropriate staff member;
- utilising a courteous manner, the Receptionist may need to handle calls from or face to face

situations with difficult parents or members of the public. The Receptionist will communicate calmly,
listen to the speaker, take notes and complete the telephone calls or face to face meeting. Notes
taken should be passed on to the Principal’s Executive Assistant;
- be responsible for the staff sign in and out book;
- be responsible for electronic and absentee records. Contacting parents and liaising with the Heads
- of House regarding absent students;- be responsible for the electronic signing in and out of students and issuing order marks to students
- when required;- maintain register for NSW Rail and passes;
- maintain the register for bus keys;
- provide administrative assistance to Corporate Services as required; and
- other duties as may be required by the Principal.

It is the nature of the work at CGGS that tasks and responsibilities are, in many circumstances, unpredictable
and varied. All staff members are therefore expected to work in a flexible way when the occasion arises and
undertake tasks that are not specifically covered in the position de
