**The role**
Reporting to the Transport Manager, we have an opportunity available to join our close-knit team in Kwinana. This position is responsible for ensuring the effective and safe movement of all freight in to and out of our yards.
**Your responsibilities will include but not limited to**:
- Ensure the efficient and effective movement of scrap metal into and out of Sims Metal’s yards.
- Optimise the use of transport resources, to meet and surpass customer service targets whilst controlling freight operations to minimise transport costs.
- Assist the Transport Manager in day to day operations via administration of Transport operations
- To act upon any non-conformances arising within the scope of responsibilities of the position.
- Identify and make recommendations on corrective actions relating to Safety and Quality issues.
- Monitor individual driver performance
Essential Criteria:
- Proven experience in a similar position
- Knowledge of relevant transport industry codes and legislation
- Verbal and written communication skills and computer skills
- Excellent scheduling, planning and time management skills
- Good problem solving skills and outstanding eye for detail.
