Western Sydney is one of the fastest growing regions in our country, with the population of Greater Parramatta alone set to climb by 50 per cent by 2041 and at Great River City Light Rail we want to create new communities, connect great places and help locals and visitors move around and explore what the region has to offer. The new Light Rail will connect Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia, spanning 12 kilometres and utilising state-of-the-art vehicles that delivers comfortable, user-friendly and high-performance services. By 2026, around 28,000 people will use Parramatta Light Rail every day and an estimated 130,000 people will be living within walking distance of light rail stops.

**The role**

Reporting to the Head of Rail Safety, you will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of our Safety Management System. This will include supporting the Head of Rail Safety in maintaining the RIM and RSO accreditation to Operate and Maintain Parramatta Light Rail, but also developing and maintaining a positive reporting culture of safety related incidents, communications to all staff around safety reminders, participation in training and assessments. The role will also require investigation and reporting of all required incidents, as well as the implementation of corrective actions to ultimately prevent incidents from reoccurring. In addition, you will also be supporting the team in day-to-day escalation of incidents (on-call rotation) and all relevant improvements in relation to our health and safety culture and the performance of the network. Working closely with our key business stakeholders you will also be ensuring reviews and inspections are compliant to legislation and our contractual obligations.

**What you bring**

In addition to relevant tertiary qualifications (WHS or related), your background will include extensive experience in a similar role. This will be supported with your experience in conducting audits and reviews to identify opportunities for organisational and process improvements. Given the nature of the role you will have strong communication skills to influence and implement change within the business. As well as your collaborative approach you will have the ability to adapt to a fast paced and changing work environment.
