**About Great River City Light Rail**

Western Sydney is one of the fastest growing regions in our country, with the population of Greater Parramatta alone set to climb by 50 per cent by 2041 and at Great River City Light Rail we want to create new communities, connect great places and help locals and visitors move around and explore what the region has to offer. Spanning 12 kilometres the new Light Rail connects Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia, the new light rail vehicles will deliver comfortable, user-friendly and high-performance services. By 2026, around 28,000 people will use Parramatta Light Rail every day and an estimated 130,000 people will be living within walking distance of the light rail stops.

We have completed the installation of all track and light rail stop overhead canopies. Ongoing minor construction work continues, including the fit out of light rail stops, installation of power substations, light rail overhead wiring and underground cabling. In addition, the Stabling and Maintenance Facility at Camellia continues to be transformed into a world-class facility with works underway to fit out the administration building and fleet maintenance workshop.

**What do you need to become a light rail driver?**

- You must have a proven record of safe driving on the road and have a current NSW Drivers Licence (C Class) with a minimum of 5 years’ experience on your full driver licence (not including Learners/Provisional)
- Being a full-time light rail driver means a commitment to shift work and being available to work 38 hours per week. Your shifts will include early starts, late finishes, weekends, and public holidays
- We have an uncompromising attitude to the safety of our employees, clients, and customers. It is important that you are medically fit to perform the functions of a light rail driver and our pre-employment medical checks including drug & alcohol testing will confirm this. Our recruitment process also includes psychometric testing, police, licence, and right-to-work checks

- As a Light Rail Driver, you will receive comprehensive training and continuous support from your team. Most of your 6 weeks training will occur out on the network so you can gain hands on driving experience, supported by your trainer and a mentor driver. The rest of your training will be theory, delivered in a classroom setting.
