AICIS administers the Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS).

**Branch Responsibilities**

The Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS) is established under the
Industrial Chemicals Act 2019 (IC Act). AICIS helps protect the Australian people and the
environment by assessing the risks of industrial chemicals and providing information to
promote their safe use.

**Section Responsibilities**

Scientific Practice is a dedicated section for scientific capability-building and international
activities to reflect the rapid international developments in regulatory toxicology and need
for collaboration with international partners to promote international harmonisation.
Efficient development of scientific capability of all regulatory scientists, by identifying areas
for skills development, is undertaken in close collaboration with the Principal Scientists and
Directors of the other relevant areas. Scientific training is provided through development of
practical implementable technical guidelines and scientific guidance that also informs
technical policy and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). In addition to identifying areas
for internal skill development, SP also focuses externally to gather intelligence on emerging
and new internationally validated methodologies and review their applicability at AICIS.

**Key Responsibilities**

APS3 General Administrative Support Job Specific Duties include, but are not limited to:

- Provide a broad range of administrative advice, services and support;
- Arrange meetings and coordinate travel and administrative arrangements for

internal and external clients and service providers;
- Provide services using software packages for word processing, maintenance of

procedures;
- Procurement of goods and services including cheminformatics software;
- Downloading documents to international meeting folders in TRIM;
- Draft correspondence varying in complexity, from routine and procedural

correspondence to briefings or reports, under direction;
- Coordinate and monitor correspondence flow;
- Onboarding of new staff;
- Monitor budgets and review and report on expenditure;
- Contribute to the establishment and attainment of team goals and work practices

and have responsibility for the achievement of specific outcomes within the team;
- Build and sustain positive working relationships with internal and external clients,

service providers and stakeholders; and
- Direct and train staff to ensure delivery against agreed objectives.
