**Selection Criteria**:
SC1- Demonstrated ability to carry out a physical role, with demonstrated gardening/handyperson aptitude to undertake a range of maintenance tasks.

SC2- Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively with contractors and suppliers as well as members of the school community, staff and students.

SC3- Demonstrated technical knowledge, expertise and proficiency in minor repairs and maintenance to the interior and exterior of buildings. Skills in the use of tools/equipments to address maintenance problems and undertake preventative maintenance processes.

SC4- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and work independently to maintain the school buildings and grounds.

SC5- Proven understanding of Quality Assurance and Workplace Health and Safety practices.

**Role**:
The role is part time and the hours are negotiable

This employee will report directly to the Assistant Principal/Facilities Manager. They must be able to demonstrate initiative and work independently, whilst having the ability to follow instructions with a preventative maintenance focus.

A keen eye for detail and pride in presentation are also a requirement for this position.

The prime focus of this position is general maintenance, repairs and improvement of the schools facilities and grounds to ensure they are maintained to an optimal condition.

**Attendance during school holidays is negotiable**

**Responsibilities**:
The core role of Maintenance / Groundskeeper may include but is not limited to:

- Conducting grounds checks for hazards, repairs needed, work required and address issues accordingly, where possible
- Addressing, where feasible, any health and safety hazards
- Maintenance and safety checks of equipment
- Carrying out minor repairs - internal and external, as per maintenance log (any work requiring specialised expertise will be referred to a contractor as required)
- General external tidying and maintaining of gardens, pathways, steps and playgrounds including:

- Use of backpack blower, ride on lawn mower and outdoor vacuum
- Weeding, pruning, planting and mulching
- Spraying
- Cleaning up/tidying
- Classroom air purifier filter cleaning
- Assist with events setups
- Work through maintenance log/schedule of regular tasks and maintenance audits
- Basic carpentry skills, hanging frames, shelf installation, hanging of doors
- Graffiti removal and Painting (touch ups)
- Repairs to locks and door hardware
- Classroom furniture setup, staff furniture relocation
- Stormwater pit cleaning
- Roof gutter cleaning
- Paving repairs
- Pressure cleaning
- Ordering and purchasing of goods as required

Craigieburn Primary School is located on Grand Boulevard in the north of Craigieburn.
