**Position Information**:
Prairiewood High School is a co-educational, partially selective, comprehensive secondary school located in Wetherill Park in Sydney's South-West region on Dharug land. The school has an enrolment of approximately 1300 students. This includes 60 students in each year in the selective stream and four Support Unit (Autism and IO) classes across Years 7 to 12. 87% of students have a Language Background Other Than English and students represent 30 countries of origin. Approximately 50% of the student population requires English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) support which has been steadily increasing. Currently, 18 students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background and there are over 170 refugee students.
In addition to a focus on academics, Prairiewood High School continues to prioritise whole of community wellbeing and holistically prepare students for success beyond school. Through innovative practices, such as the Wellbeing Hub and timetabled wellbeing and engagement programs, we work to strengthen student achievement, engagement and attendance to ensure a thriving school community.
Our Wellbeing Team comprises the Principal, three Deputy Principals, 2 Head Teacher’s Wellbeing, 2 Year Advisor’s per cohort in addition to two full-time Student Support Officers and a part time Community Liaison Officer. Our school counsellor allocation is 1.2 and we have a School Counsellor or Psychologist on-site each day. The school co-shares a WHIN (Wellbeing Health In-Nurse) and works with a variety of external partners. The Wellbeing Head Teacher’s are a member of the Safe, Respectful, Learner (Positive Behaviour for Learning) team.

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Demonstrated ability to lead a whole-school Wellbeing Team that delivers a coordinated approach to improve wellbeing and learning outcomes for a diverse student population with complex needs.
2. Proven capacity to use school and system data to design, implement and evaluate universal and targeted wellbeing engagement programs that meet the needs of a diverse range of students.
3. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills to build productive relationships with external stakeholders to support and engage students, staff, parents and others across the wider school community.
4. Demonstrated capacity to lead and coordinate integrated support to individual students with complex needs and at times of crisis, reflective of Departmental wellbeing policies and procedures.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
