- Ability to define data center system-level architecture, specify/document performance and equipment requirements to vendors and contractors, communicate conceptual designs, and create/maintain project documentation before, during and after construction
- Ability and willingness to think outside of the box to find creative and innovative solutions prior to and during the construction process to reduce costs and schedules with no impact on quality and reliability.
- Possess excellent communication skills and have an attention to detail, and be able to maintain high quality standards

As a Construction Technical Lead you will be a part of a creative, efficient team tasked with tackling fascinating and challenging problems building and supporting the operations of Amazon Data Centers. Our data centers are industry leading examples of energy efficient, cost-effective designs.

You will have a close collaborative relationship with the design team in order to craft new scalable delivery strategies, update existing delivery strategies and to unblock design related construction issues and avoid their repetition on similar builds. A key part of the role will be to influence the design and construction of our facilities to scale learnings and lessons learned to improve design delivery for APAC and Global projects, while establishing innovative procedures and protocols for the development of future systems.
As a Construction Technical Lead, you will be part of APAC’s construction leadership team, supporting India (IND), North Asia (NA), South East Asia (SEA), Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Heads of Construction and our regional program team. This unique vantage point allows you to maintain a close connection with project details and drive project outcomes across multiple geographical locations.

At Amazon we are a global team responsible for the design and operation of industry leading, geographically diverse, large scale critical facilities. Each team member is a highly motivated individual with demonstrated construction management and analytical expertise in the areas of complex, mission critical facilities. Daily responsibilities will include all aspects of the entire data center lifecycle construction starting with the site feasibility, through the procurement of the design teams and design review, daily construction oversight, and commissioning of completed facilities.

Key job responsibilities
- Travel to other data centers, Amazon offices or vendor premises as required to support the current project or undertake training. Both Domestic and international travel.
- Partner with General Contractors on one or more data center construction sites, including oversight and review of all disciplines including civil, structural, architectural electrical, mechanical, controls and commissioning looking for opportunities to deliver efficiency’s that scale.
- Work with general contractors, developers and vendors to deliver efficient and high-quality modularised solutions.
- Inspect and review construction work including site safety, project quality control, support of the commissioning process and review of submittals and other project documents for compliance with contract documents.
- Record and report key construction metrics, including internal safety, quality and schedule.
- Driving process improvements to positively impact design related issues and quality outcomes.
- Drive best practices on the team, deal with ambiguity and competing objectives, and proactively identify and mitigate risks before they become roadblocks.
- Write effective narratives and present them concisely and effectively to Directors and VPs.
