UniSQ is currently looking for two (2) enthusiastic Technical Officers with specific experience in **Microbiology & Mycology, Cell & Molecular biology** and/or with Medical laboratory science (histology & cytology, biochemistry) to provide professional support and advice for our technical services and facilities.

**Who you are**:
Having prior experience in a Higher Education/Teaching environment and/or Sciences Laboratory Facilities, you will have specialist technical expertise within a range of medical, biomedical or physical sciences laboratories. You will have experience in preparing advanced practical classes, participating in the design and construction of research equipment and conducting experimental programs under general direction.

Additionally, you will be able to provide general support for processes relating to work health and safety audit and risk assessments with School, work area or teaching area Play hazards.

**What you'll do**:
You will play a crucial role through providing general technical support and advice in our medical, biomedical or physical science laboratories. Additionally, you will be required to:

- Contribute to ensuring University policies and procedures are implemented effectively and consistently across all work areas.
- Support and foster a culture of work health and safety awareness to ensure all staff, students and visitors remain compliant with university policies, procedures, and legislation.
- Contribute to developing and refining new and existing complex and specialised techniques and equipment in accordance with UniSQ policy and procedure.

**What will help you succeed**:
It is essential you hold Tertiary qualifications in a relevant Science discipline with subsequent work experience in a technical, laboratory or workshop environment.

Additionally, you will have:

- ** Demonstrated experience in Microbiology & Mycology, Cell & Molecular biology and Medical laboratory science (histology & cytology, biochemistry). **Additional experience or the ability to learn and support Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, and Plant areas would be viewed as beneficial and highly complementary.
- Demonstrated technical expertise with using and maintaining a range of laboratory, workshop or fieldwork site.
- A knowledge of advanced techniques and procedures used to prepare practical classes, experiments and research activities.
- An understanding of the higher education sector and universities in general, and expert knowledge of the technical support and facilities that support the delivery of relevant academic programs.
