**About the Role**:
Building Blocks Life Coaching is excited to add a new member to our team for the position for a “Special Needs Teacher - Behaviour”. This position meets at the intersection of the 'Disability Education' and 'Behaviour Intervention' fields. You will be a part of a behaviour intervention team and work within a clinically developed classroom environment, in the community and as a guest within the learner's homes and schools.

As a Special Needs Teacher, you will work with primary school children aged 5-13, primarily learners diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with a range of comorbid disorders such as: Downs Syndrome, Hearing loss, ADHD, etc. In this role, you will use a range of assessment tools to determine the learner’s skills, deficits, and barriers. You will develop programs according to these results, track progress and ultimately, to write progress and annual reports. Accordingly, you will need to create instructional aids/materials and develop tools to assist in teaching and training. You will teach learners a variety of skills including: Academics (Literacy, Numeracy, Arts), Communication and Language, Fine/Gross and Coordination, Daily living (Dressing, Grooming, Toileting, Grocery shopping, etc) Social Development and Emotional Regulation.

As you join the behaviour intervention team, you will be required to collaborate with peers and subordinates. You will be a central member in the planning and delivery of services. You will be allocated several of our Therapy assistant, 'Life Coaches' to manage. These team members will provide behaviour intervention and act in the capacity of Education Support Officers whilst you teach. Additionally, a key component of the role is relationship building. Mentoring and instructing parents support network to support according to the BBLC tools and methods is key.

**Required Skills and Knowledge**:

- Bachelor Degree or higher in a relevant field such as Psychology, Education, or Disability Studies
- At least 2 years of work experience as a Special Needs Teacher
- Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- First Aid Certificate - Level 2 (Current) - Minimum
- Current Australian Driver’s License

To be successful in this role, you must be proficient in the following areas:

- Assistive Augmented Communication (PECS, Auslan, Proloquo2Go, etc;)
- Behavioural Intervention - (PBS, ABA, ESDM, PRT or other.)
