**The Role**
The Pacific Labour Operations Division is responsible for managing and implementing the PALM scheme which has two key objectives:

- to contribute to the economic development of nine Pacific Island countries (Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu) and Timor-Leste; and

The department manages the PALM scheme domestic operations, in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT); Department of Home Affairs; and the Fair Work Ombudsman.

The Division operates in a fast paced, dynamic environment with a requirement for ongoing stakeholder engagement.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of the APS Level 5 may include:

- Working in a range of cultural environments to communicate sensitively and effectively with people of diverse backgrounds,
- Liaising with employers, workers, and other stakeholders to respond to routine enquiries and administrative processes, and to ensure positive outcomes,
- Providing quality program advice and support as required,
- Researching and interpreting program guidelines and policies to provide advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders,
- Under guidance, establishing and documenting procedures, processes, and internal controls, and contribute to the drafting of submissions, briefs and reports for the PALM scheme,
- Managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment, and
- Contributing to team reporting requirements and delivery of project outcomes.
