The Infection Control Coordinator provides expert clinical advice to consumers and other health care professionals within the defined specialty of Infection, Prevention and Control, to deliver high quality clinical services in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. We are delighted to be working with a rural health service in northwest Victoria. Consisting of 40 acute and 95 Aged care beds acros five campuses.
**Infection Control Coordinator**
Part time, 64 hours per fortnight (Monday - Friday, days of work negotiable)
Fixed term: To commence ASAP until 13 August 2023 (maternity leave coverage)
**Key Responsibilities**
- Is responsible for ensuring all services provided and meet best practice, standards, to prevent the spread of infection thereby ensuring that the risk of consumers’ and staff acquiring infection is minimised.
- Has expert knowledge on the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards with a strong focus on leading organisational compliance with Preventing and Controlling Healthcare Associated
- Infections. Understanding of Community Care Common Standards and Australian Aged Care Quality Standards.
- Provides expert knowledge and advice regarding the prevention and management of diseases/complications caused by microorganisms.
- Provides clinical education, information and orientation regarding infection control to all Nursing staff, other staff and consumers as required.
- Provide advice to Executive Team (if/when required) on infection control matters, and participate in various organisational forums.
- Coordinate the Staff Health program for all staff and manage the Electronic Data Entry.
- Provide information and data relating to Antimicrobial Stewardship to the various committees.
- Provide Infection Surveillance Reports to VICNISS and other relevant committees.
**To succeed in the role, you will need**:
- Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- Post graduate qualifications in Infection Control or equivalent.
- Extensive clinical experience.
- Preferred experience as an Accredited Nurse Immuniser to coordinate a staff health program.
- Accredited Hand Hygiene Gold Standard auditor or prepared to work towards.
- Knowledge and commitment to Quality Management and Accreditation processes.
- Ability to function with mínimal supervision and to liaise with all levels of staff on a day-to-day basis
- Evidence of recent annual influenza immunisation, willingness to obtain or evidence of valid medical exemption
- Evidence of full immunisation against COVID-19 or evidence of valid medical exemption
- A current Victorian Drivers Licence.
