Infrastructure & Operations is embarking on a new operating model putting Westpac technologists in the driving seat by investing in our engineering skills to enable a proactive operating model.

The Infrastructure Services Specialist within the Mainframe Infrastructure Services team is required to support Westpac’s complex mainframe environment and increase their technical expertise.

The role plays an important role in the development and maintenance of technical solutions within the Mainframe and ensures that the detailed design and operations are fit for purpose.
- Your role will include: _
- Undertake basic problem diagnoses, correction, and support to resolve incidents / issues as required and escalate those that cannot be resolved to ensure resolution within a timely manner.
- Assist with problem determination and root cause analysis as directed to ensure permanent corrective actions are implemented appropriately.
- Assist with the Westpac Change Management process, lodging the details in the service management tool and assist in implementing the infrastructure change where applicable including post implementation verification checks (using standard checks to make sure nothing broke from the change that was implemented).
- Remain aware of latest developments in infrastructure technology and understand operational aspects of new technology and its potential to enhance or replace existing systems to ensure that relevant new technologies are adopted.
- Participate in identifying opportunities for process improvements to ensure continuous improvement within infrastructure operations.
- Assist in the formulation of infrastructure standards and guidelines to support the development of effective infrastructure strategies and procedures.
- Conduct basic aspects of capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning of specific infrastructure components and implement new releases as required to ensure the stability and availability of technology infrastructure services to the business.
- Collaborates with partners, vendors, and third-party suppliers to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Support the governance of infrastructure services delivered by partners, vendors, and third-party suppliers.
- Proactively establishes, engages, and maintains a “One Team” mindset with partners, vendors and third-party supplier to deliver a service end to end.

**What do I need?**
- 10+ years relevant IT Mainframe industry experience with at least three years in a highly technical role.
- 5+ years’ experience in a complex IT infrastructure environment incorporating planning, implementation, operational management, configuration, and maintenance.
- 5+ years’ experience z/OS systems programming, installing, and supporting mainframe operating systems, IBM and ISV mainframe products.
- Expert knowledge within the mainframe environment.
- Advanced SMP/E and zOSMF skills.
- Advanced GDPS skills.
- Advanced Assembler skills.
- Strong analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
