**The Role**:
The Assistant Director of Nursing (Acute Operations Surgical):

- Provides effective leadership and management to achieve the defined objectives of clinical services within the Surgical and Perioperative Services stream and provides the Nursing Director with high quality and authoritative advice and support.
- Ensures optimal standards of clinical practice, patient care and the patient experience, through clinical support, strong operational leadership, sound analytical planning and negotiation skills.

**The Hospital**

The Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is the largest public hospital in the state and operates at a level 6 capability and provides acute inpatient and outpatient surgical services for the Tasmania Health Service Hospitals South (THS Hospitals South) and is the tertiary referral for complex patients from THS Hospitals North and THS Hospitals North West.

The RHH is the major provider of elective surgery in THS-South Tasmania, and also provides emergency (i.e. non-elective) surgical services to the south as well as a statewide emergency service for the tertiary surgical specialities.

This senior role provides strong clinical leadership to eight direct reports line managers, and oversees over 300 fte across outpatient services, elective surgery Access and theatre bookings and all inpatient clinical areas.

**Details of Appointment**

Permanent, full time, day worker (with on-call) position working 76 hours per fortnight commencing ASAP
- notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant
- _Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies._

**Salary**: $137,526 per annum + 10.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging
- _Salary range is in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019_

**Eligibility**:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
