CAREERS VISION Program Coordinator WANTED
Vision Australia and Partnering with Skilling Queenslanders for Work, Careers Vision project will enable people who are blind or have low vision to develop practical workplace skills, with a goal of gaining positive employment experience. Vision Australia is partnering with TAFE Queensland to offer six traineeships. Trainees will complete a Certificate I in Workplace Skills. We are seeking a Program Coordinator for 2 days per week.
Duration: The Program Coordinator will commence before the intake date to prepare for the trainees who are commencing. The Program Coordinator will be responsible to source eligible employers for the worksite placements for the trainees. Once placed, the Project Coordinator will provide support to the trainees in the workplace with regular visits.
Trainees will be employed for a total of 18 weeks. The first 8 weeks and will run onsite at Vision Australia, Coorparoo. The schedule will consist of classroom based learning opportunities for trainees to complete the theory for the Certificate 1. Trainees will be supported by a Vision Australia trainer as well as receiving lectures from TAFE Brisbane staff. The second part of the qualification consists of a 10 week worksite placement. The intake date is 8th May 2023 and conclude 8th Sept 2023.
Purpose of Position: The Project Coordinator is expected to
- Coordinate the Career Visions program which will involve overseeing the satisfactory completion of the program by the six trainees.
- Coordinate work placements for a ten week period for the six trainees.
- Provide support to host employment providers hosting the six trainees.
- Provide worksite support to the six trainees with host employment providers.
- Meet key government reporting requirements.

Essential Job Competencies:

- TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from the Training and Education Training Package or demonstrated equivalent competence.
- Relevant vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered/ assessed.
- Current industry skills directly relevant to the training/ assessment being undertaken.
- An understanding of employment placement for people with a disability.
- Delivering and assessing nationally recognised units of competency.
- Ability to reflect on own professional practice.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong planning, organisation and time management skills.
- Well developed analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to establish and build positive working relationships with a diverse range of staff at all levels, students and external stakeholders.

Important:

- COVID 19 full vaccination is required prior to commencement.

Trainees will have access and be supported by the highly specialized Vision Australia team including: Orientation and Mobility Specialists, Adaptive Technology Specialists, Orthoptists and Occupational Therapists, and Employment Specialists.
