The role of the Disability Transition Officer is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with disabilities during their transition from secondary school to studying at Swinburne University.

As a key member of the AccessAbility Services team and the VET Pathways and Engagement team you will provide specialised and intensive support to students, which involves overseeing the case-management of students in their crucial first 90 days of enrolment. You will collaborate with a wide range of VET and student support services staff, external agency providers, and the community to ensure the provision of effective and efficient services within available resources.

You will play a vital role in negotiating and monitoring reasonable adjustments for students, enabling them to access and participate in their VET studies, enhancing educational opportunities, and encouraging positive pathway outcomes.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of practice resources, policies, and processes that facilitate a smooth transition for students. You will also conduct data collection, analysis and reporting to track and showcase the positive impact of your work.

**About you**
- To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant State and Commonwealth legislation pertaining to the rights of people living with disability and the responsibilities of educational institutions including understand of NDIS funding and implications for students in Tertiary Education
- Demonstrated skill in computerised data management, accurate data entry and record keeping
- Proven ability to work effectively with a wide range of clientele, to negotiate on disability support or reasonable adjustment issues and to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal and advanced communication skills, both written and oral, and an ability to conduct seminars and workshops to students and staff.
- Experience in understanding the impact of a range of psychiatric, physical, sensory, neurological, medical, learning disabilities on Educational and personal development, preferably in a tertiary setting.
- Experience in working independently and under pressure in a changing environment and working as an integral member of a team.
- Demonstrated understanding of assistive/adaptive technological aids and adaptive technology for people living with disability as well as other resources such as external disability support agencies, government departments and service organisations.

**Qualifications**
- A relevant degree with subsequent relevant experience and / or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
- Criminal Records check and Working With Children check.
