**Job Description**:
**What you’ll do**:
This is your opportunity to transform the way data stewardship is done within a world class business.
The Data Governance team enables our stakeholders from across the business to maximise the value of data whilst minimising risk. You will join a team building frameworks to ensure scalable and sustainable data governance in a growing global business.
The Data Steward will support stewardship for our enterprise data platforms and support establishing stewardship functions embedded across Product, Technology and Data teams. It will also work closely with privacy, legal, security and subsidiary in-country governance teams.
We're looking for someone skilled in leading collaborative data stewardship and govenance programs, across all areas of the data lifeycle.
**Key activities include**:
- Establishing and running Data Steward forums: Supporting business teams to establish data steward roles, culture and responsibilities across business functions.
- Developing data governance policies and procedures. Creating and maintaining policies and procedures that ensure the organisation manages data in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
- Identifying critical data elements: Identifying and prioritising the most important data elements within the organisation and ensuring they are managed appropriately.
- Support data classification and handling: Review controls on critical data platforms meet handling requirements and permitted use.
- Establishing data quality standards: Creating and maintaining standards for data quality and ensuring that data is accurate, complete, and consistent.
- Overseeing data cleansing and data remediation efforts: Ensuring that data is cleansed and remediated to meet data quality standards.
- Managing metadata platforms and standards: Supporting the mapping and metadata of data through the organisation to ensure that data is being used appropriately.
- Managing data access and security: Ensuring that data is accessed only by authorised personnel and that appropriate security measures are in place to protect data from unauthorised access or disclosure.
- Facilitating data stewardship training and awareness: Educating staff on data governance policies and procedures, data quality standards, and best practices for managing data.
- Collaborating with other teams: Working closely with Product, Technology, Legal, Security and other teams to ensure that data governance policies and procedures are sustainably integrated into all aspects of the organisation.
**Qualifications**:
**What are we looking for?**
- Experience in data stewardship, security, privacy and/or governance
- Experience in Australia and International privacy and data regulations
- Experience building training and business change management
- Experience writing and implementing policies, standards and procedures
- Good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to operate in ambiguous environments and adapt to new methods
- Strong business acumen and communication skills to present findings in an easy-to-understand way to inform data-driven decisions
- Experience with metadata, data quality, privacy and classification tools
- Background experience in analytics, BI, data engineering a plus
