**Role**:
Attendance is generally Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm
The Basketball Coach for the Elite Sports Development Program is responsible for advancing student-players' basketball skills while supporting their personal, social, and emotional growth. This role emphasises high-level coaching and mentoring, helping students develop as both players and individuals through teamwork, leadership, and emotional intelligence.
Range 3 is distinguished by the introduction of management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional support services. The role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, operations or educational programs.
Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.

- Plan and lead advanced training sessions to build basketball skills, strategy, and game performance.
- Develop tailored training programs to address individual athlete needs and growth.
- ** Team Building and Personal Development**
- Foster a positive team culture, encouraging mutual respect, accountability, and leadership.
- Integrate programs to build emotional intelligence, teamwork, and conflict resolution skills.
- ** Game Strategy and Performance Management**
- Create and implement game strategies, conduct game reviews, and support players continuous improvement.
- Represent the school and promote sportsmanship during competitions and public events.
- ** Wellness and Safety**
- Promote physical and mental well-being through injury prevention, conditioning, and resilience practices.
- Monitor players' health and offer support and referrals for well-being as needed.
- ** Communication and Collaboration**
- Maintain clear communication with players, families, and school staff regarding expectations, schedules, and player progress.
- Partner with other departments to support the holistic development of student-players.
**Qualifications and Skills**
- Relevant coaching certifications and/or coaching experience, ideally both professionally and with youth or school programs.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with experience in youth mentorship and social-emotional learning.
This role combines expert basketball coaching with a holistic approach to student development, equipping students with skills for success both on and off the court.
