As a Risk Analyst, you will be an active participant in managing Mako's trading floor risk, a cornerstone of our business. You will develop your expertise, be responsible for real-time risk measurement and analysis of trader positions and ensure the complete and accurate daily reporting of risk against approved limit using a range of risk methodologies and metrics.

**What you'll be involved in**:

- Preparing risk reports and materials to proactively identify and analyse the market risk arising from the products traded in Australia, New Zealand and Asia
- Assisting in the preparation of reports for the Risk Committee and other management forums
- Engaging closely with traders on risk positions and strategy
- Ensuring clear and frequent communication with operational staff across the group to enable the accurate reporting of risk, margin and PnL
- Responsible for the oversight of operational risk for APAC, performing an annual review of the risk register and ensuring risk events are appropriately logged and tracked
- Provide your input on limit appropriateness, breach condonement or other risk concerns to the Head of Risk
- Daily analysis of Mako's margin requirement at its clearers including forecasting and working with other departments on margin management
- Developing and maintaining VBA and python tools to create efficiency and improve the current processes
- Identifying and tracking key risks and discussing exposures that exceed the firm's risk appetite directly with traders. Escalating these to senior management on a timely basis
- Understanding and analysing the key market drivers and how they affect the firm's positions
- Assisting in the development and reviewing position limit frameworks for Mako's trading desks
- Assisting in new products approval process
- Performing ad hoc projects and investigations as required, including engaging with other teams to deliver group wide initiatives
- Producing analyses for regulator and exchange requests
- Ensuring Risk maintain a robust control and operating environment
- Assisting with managing projects and workload across the team

**What we need from you**:

- 3-5 years experience of market risk gained from trading, structuring, risk management or research from either sell side or buy side.
- Good understanding of options, including valuation, greeks and risk management principles.
- Cross assets experience especially in equities, fixed income or electricity trading is a bonus.
- Strong Python and VBA coding.
- Practical experience of VaR, Expected Shortfall, stress testing and other risk measurement methods.
- A strong work ethic, highly self-motivated and able to multi-task across both team-oriented and individual projects.
- Confident problem-solving skills, with a proven analytical ability and comfortable at analysing large data sets.
- Excellent communication skills with a strong attention to details and an ability to influence.
