**About us**

Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state’s energy system.

The organisation will drive delivery of world-class pumped hydro assets to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland’s clean energy future. The organisation will play a critical role in assisting the Queensland Government to meet its renewable energy targets of 70% renewables by 2032, 80% by 2035 and net zero emissions by 2050, supporting the shift in the Australian economy to a decarbonised energy system.

**About the Position**

Reporting to the Project Controls Manager and based in the Brisbane CBD Support Office, the successful applicant in this role will be required to maximise business outcomes by effectively controlling and monitoring program costs and managing project cost control resources in forecasting against their project budgets. You will also provide commercial and strategic advice, analytical oversight, support, and guidance to project management teams, specifically the Project Cost Controllers.

**Additional role accountabilities and responsibilities include**:

- Establishing program baseline cost plans including risk and contingency allocations.
- In consultation with the Head of Project Management Office (PMO), preparation of monthly financial performance monitoring and reporting, and variance analysis.
- Preparation of risk assessed detailed financial forecasts at project cost code level across the full lifecycle of each project into planned monthly cash flows.
- Ensuring the integrity of project cost codes within the finance system and ensuring appropriate coding structures are maintained with Queensland Hydro standards and as required by legislation and best practice.
- Defining and coordinating the development and implementation of the management plans, procedures, guidelines, processes and cost control systems required for the project.
- Assisting the Head of PMO and Project Controls Manager in developing and implementing cost and reporting plans, processes and tools.
- Providing early notification to management of adverse cost and time impacts and trends in comparison to agreed budget and schedule that has the potential to impact on the projects.

**About you**

**To be considered for this position you will ideally possess**:

- Formal qualifications in Engineering, Construction or Commerce, or relevant professional experience within program and project cost control.
- Proven experience in the establishment of program baseline cost plans including risk and contingency allocations.
- Experience in monitoring, controlling, and reporting the program budget within major project or program (PMO) environments.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and report on key program and project milestones.
- Prior experience in leading and mentoring project cost controllers.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills with the ability to drive inputs from project and corporate stakeholders.
