The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced People & Development Consultant to join the Clayton Utz Canberra office on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Canberra People & Development Manager, this role will provide trusted advice to our partners, managers and employees as part of the broader Canberra P&D team.

The role supports the office from a strategy team perspective, supports local Canberra office initiatives, actively contributes to P&D project work and supports the P&D Manager in delivering the people strategy.

You will also be responsible for supporting local office clerkship and graduate recruitment campaigns and programs in line with the national strategy. Duties include managing ACT university relationships, coordinating and representing the firm at events, assisting with screening, interviewing and offer process, managing graduate rotations and feedback.

The People and Development (P&D) team

With a presence in each of our offices, the national P&D team forms part of our Business Advisory Services department. The P&D team provides strategic business partnering support to the business on P&D issues, driving and delivering a range of initiatives to ensure that Clayton Utz is a great place to work.

Responsibilities, knowledge and initiatives will include:

- Employee relations, WHS and policy
- Commercial focus to Business Partnering
- Remuneration and benefits
- Performance, talent management and workforce planning
- Culture, engagement and mental health awareness
- Coaching and mentoring
- Diversity & Inclusion
- Law student graduate recruitment program management

Skills & Experience
- Significant relevant HR generalist experience in a similar business partnering role in a complex, professional and highly client focused environment
- Proven abilities in developing and maintaining relationships with key and senior stakeholders
- The ability to drive projects and decisions through to completion
- Experience working within the legal profession or in professional services (advantageous although not essential).
