**Overview**

The NGO (Non-Government Organization) Service Coordinator is an experienced and highly competent clinician who applies expertise in the delivery of clinical assessment, psychosocial support and NGO partnerships within a multidisciplinary context. The NGO Service Coordinator contributes to the improvement of quality, safe, community driven Mental Health services and provides clinical leadership, advice and consultancy services pertaining to NGO psychosocial support access, partnering with NGOs and NGO contract management, that support the recovery of mental health consumers from rural and remote areas of South Australia.

As a clinical leader, mentor and supervisor, the NGO Service Coordinator provides clinical support, NGO specific expertise and knowledge, as well as profession-specific supervision to Mental Health professionals / students with a primary focus on the community level of care and NGO principles and practice approaches, while playing a leadership role in upholding clinical professional standards and practices within RRMHS and in collaboration with the regional LHNs. The NGO Service Coordinator applies their knowledge of the NGO services and clinical expertise to develop, encourage and promote increased expertise, service improvements and NGO service partnerships throughout community mental health services.

The role monitors and reports on NGO performance, and works with NGO management and staff, and regional community mental health services, to ensure the most effective and equitable delivery of psychosocial support services. As part of regional clinical leadership, the NGO Service Coordinator represents local teams, regions and LHN MH on relevant committees, and may be required to contribute to or manage relevant projects.

**Qualifications**

Must hold a recognized qualification within the professions of Social Work, Psychology or Occupational Therapy.
- For Occupational Therapy, must fulfill all the requirements to obtain and maintain current practicing registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of South Australia (SA).
- For Social Work, must be eligible for practicing membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Must have participated in ongoing professional development in line with AASW guidelines.
- For Psychology, must hold registration with the Psychology Board of Australia within an Endorsed Area of Practice as a Clinical Psychologist, or eligibility to enter the Registrar Program in Clinical Psychology.
