The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts is responsible for the design and delivery of the Australian Government’s infrastructure, transport, regional development, communications and arts policies and programs.

We do this by providing policy advice to government, and delivering programs, services and research for the benefit of all Australians.

The Communication, Ministerial and Parliamentary Branch provides high-quality advice and support through a range of enabling services, including media engagement activities, ministerial announcements, speechwriting services, strategic communication services, video and design services, social media engagement and advertising campaigns.

**The opportunity we have available**

The Communication Branch is seeking talented and creative communication professionals to undertake media engagement activities and raise awareness of the Government’s infrastructure, transport, regional development, communications and arts policy agenda.

This is an opportunity to advance your career and to build on your experience in the media and communication industry, working with senior ministers’ offices and department staff while supporting and managing the media approach for high-profile and interesting programs that benefit all Australians.

Multiple positions are available at the APS6 level. A merit pool may be established for a period of 18 months from the date of this advertisement as a result of the selection process.

**What will you do?**

Reporting to the Media Manager and working collaboratively as part of a high-performing media section, you will deliver a range of materials and advice to support exciting Australian Government initiatives, including:

- Projects and initiatives across infrastructure, transport and regional development, including major road and rail projects, regional and community infrastructure, aviation and maritime programs and regulation, and vehicle standards and safety policy.
- Emerging technology including the expansion of 5G, regional telecommunications issues, misinformation and disinformation, and issues impacting the media and news industry.
- Creative and cultural projects, including the Government’s _National Cultural Policy - Revive_ and the Location Incentive program which brings international film and television productions to Australia, creating thousands of jobs and boosting opportunities for Australia’s screen sector.

**Key duties include**:

- Drafting media releases and talking points.
- Developing and coordinating media enquiry responses.
- Identifying opportunities and developing media engagement strategies.
- Media monitoring, production and analysis of media reports.
- Participating in an after-hours on-call roster as required.
- Developing social media content.
- Increase users of _Streem_ - the department’s current media monitoring provider - and provide training for
