**About us**

The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.

**About the role**

Compliance Officers conduct a range of compliance monitoring activities and inspections as authorised under the Australian Consumer Law and Fair-Trading Act, and other legislation administered by CAV. These inspections will typically include leading compliance checks issued under the State-wide Inspection Program as well as other activities identified by regional intelligence.

**Key accountabilities**:

- Requiring a degree of judgement, discretion and experience, Compliance Officers undertake more complex inspections of traders as they arise, including where there is a history of previous compliance breaches, or following a complaint of specific breaches.
- Compliance Officers carry out residential tenancy investigations including rental assessments and non-urgent repairs as required.
- Compliance Officers also perform front line dispute resolution, provide business and community education and lead or coordinate CAV campaign initiatives, as well as mentor CAV staff and provide leadership to workforce planning and implementation to ensure strategic priorities are achieved.

**About you**

To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:

- Manage aspects of ongoing compliance and education programs under limited direction, identifying opportunities to improve service delivery.
- Be appointed as an Inspector under the Australian Consumer Law and Fair-Trading Act and be delegated as an Inspector under the Residential Tenancies Act..

**Mandatory requirements**
- Tertiary qualifications in commerce, business, law, or other related fields will be an advantage.A Certificate IV in Government Investigations or equivalent qualification.
- A current Victorian Driver's Licence is required.
