About The Role

Our fast paced Hampton Salvos Store plays a pivotal role in supporting the local community and is a destination for the second-hand retail enthusiasts in the Bayside suburbs of Melbourne. We’re looking for a talented leader who loves retail, loves a challenge, and loves waking up each day with a passion for making a difference.

Our unique business proposition in Salvos Stores means that no two products are the same, and every day is literally a different day; we’re looking for someone who’ll thrive as a leader in our business, and have the capabilities and drive to lead and grow the Hampton Salvos business.

The Hampton store receives high volumes of donations everyday that are quickly made shop ready and placed in the store for sale. We are looking for an individual who can manage, direct and organize this high volume of daily donations and the turnaround for sale in the store to meet the KPI's required.

The Hampton store is well known for it's merchandising and general presentation standards and we are looking for a person to maintain and even enhance these standards. You will be leading a team of paid team members and volunteers. On any one day you will need to lead, motivate and direct up to 12 team members. This is a fabulous management role combined with real hands-on functions, you will be involved with every aspect of stores operations, everyday.

As a retail leader it goes without saying that you’ll be experienced in:
- Leading, growing and developing a team of paid employees and volunteers across multiple departments- Ensuring extraordinary customer service is provided every day, in every interaction-
- Embedding exceptional operational and visual merchandising standards- Role-modeling a ‘safety first’ culture- Ensuring company policies and procedures are adhered to

Previous experience in a similar industry, while highly regarded, is not essential. What is essential is your people and team leadership, your passion, and proven ability to deliver outstanding results in a complex and rewarding retail environment.

Importantly, as someone known for your integrity, you will also be comfortable aligning to The Salvation Army Mission and Values.

You will be a high energy, hands-on individual and will bring your proven track record in providing extraordinary customer service to the role. Importantly, as someone known for your integrity, you will also be comfortable aligning to The Salvation Army Mission and Values to positively support and impact the lives of others through your career contribution.

To be successful in this role you must possess excellent people leadership and management abilities. You will be an outstanding written and verbal communicator with strong interpersonal skills. Solid technical skills and experience using Workday HCM system experience, highly regarded.
