We are currently seeking a new Policy and Advocacy Adviser, ideally based in our Canberra office, to join our team.

The Policy and Advocacy team helps fulfil that vision by working closely with governments and other decision makers to influence public policy to achieve social justice. We build on the vast experience of helping people at their point of need to identify issues. We work with those who give hope to people experiencing hardship to develop solutions. We amplify the voice of lived experience to influence decision-makers.

About the role

You will successfully
- Support and lead specific national evidence-based policy development initiatives that promote social justice
- Provide expert advice in relation to social policy and advocacy priorities including the social, political and economic developments affecting these priorities
- Engage with stakeholders and service delivery teams to ensure policy development is informed by frontline service delivery experience and that frontline service delivery is informed about social policy
- Enhance the presentation and communication of policy and advocacy collateral through web and document production technologies and the maintenance of databases

What you have
- A background in social policy development or practice
- Experience in social justice advocacy
- Experience in research and analyses of social policy issues
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills
- A willingness to undergo a National Police Check is required
