Wyong Hospital ED is pleased to commence advertising for an Ultrasound Special Skills Placement **starting in the 2024** clinical year.

We are looking for **Stage 3 or 4 trainees** with a passion for POCUS to join our team

Every 6 months there will be two Advanced Trainee positions available. The Trainees will be working 0.5 FTE clinically in the Wyong Emergency Department and 0.5 FTE in the Ultrasound Special Skills Placement for a 6 months duration. This position will provide significant exposure to POCUS across all major modalities as recommended by ACEM.

Successfully appointed Trainees will have access to:

- Opportunities to **gain significant experience and accreditation** across all **core Emergency Medicine POCUS examinations** (eFAST, AAA, FELS, Lung, and Procedural)
- Exposure to specialised areas of areas of ultrasound (eg. Biliary, Renal, DVT, Early Pregnancy and others) throughout the placement
- **Formal accreditation of POCUS examinations through CCPU** certification if desired
- **Protected scanning time** within the Emergency Department to develop ultrasound scanning proficiency and complete logbooks for accreditation and/or CCPU certification - there is **absolute separation between Ultrasound and ED clinical shifts**
- Close clinical supervision, teaching, and support from a FACEM group with extensive ultrasound experience, including FACEMs with CCPU accreditation
- Valuable experience in ultrasound from medical sonographers
- Teaching opportunities at local Ultrasound workshops

**Emergency Medicine Training Network**:
The Central Coast is part of the Emergency Medicine Network 2 Training Program for Advanced Trainees. Gosford & Wyong Emergency Departments are educationally networked for training with ACEM and offer a comprehensive education programme contributing to Primary exam preparation & Fellowship preparation. All trainees (including Unaccredited) have access to paid rostered non-clinical time. CCLHD Emergency Trainees have achieved excellent results in both Primary and Fellowship exams, with a very high pass rate and a number of medal winners for top mark. Both Gosford and Wyong Emergency Departments are ACEM accredited for 36 months training time (including stage 4).

CCLHD offers access to regular simulation training and paid, rostered, weekly education sessions for both ACEM and Unaccredited Trainees. Education sessions include regular sessions in PEM, Radiology, SIM and Ultrasound. Advanced Trainees can rotate to dedicated positions in ICU, Anaesthetics, and Medical Education within CCLHD and to tertiary Paediatrics, Trauma, and Retrieval through external secondments. Career opportunities may be available for Trainees progressing through training towards Consultant level.

The NSW Central Coast is located only 1 hour north of Sydney CBD. Career opportunities are available for JMOs wishing to progress a career in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care Medicine from SRMO to Consultant level. **Central Coast Emergency Medicine Departments**:
**Gosford Hospital** is the principal referral hospital and trauma centre for the Central Coast, with over 500 inpatient beds and 24/7 access to the Emergency Department and Operating Theatres. In 2019, a $368 million dollar redevelopment delivered a new Emergency Department, ICU, Nuclear Medicine facility, Special Care Nursery and expanded Medical Imaging services.

**Wyong Hospital** is an acute major metropolitan hospital with over 300 beds providing inpatient, outpatient and Emergency services to residents in the northern region of the Central Coast. In 2021, a $200 million expansion delivered a new Emergency Department, ICU, Paediatric Unit, inpatient wards, theatres and expanded Medical Imaging services.
