**Position Title: Advanced Clinical Coder**

**Location: Gosford**

**Primary Purpose**:
To provide high quality complex clinical coding. Audit, report and educate in relation to clinical coding aimed to support quality improvements in coding practices and development of the coding workforce across the CCLHD. This position reports to the District Clinical Coding Manager and provides advice, exchanges information, delivers education, negotiates and consults on a wide range of issues concerning clinical coding quality and improvement.

**What you'll be doing**
- Conduct, interpret and direct auditing activities in line with Coding Quality Plan.
- Assist quality improvement by providing input into the Clinical Coding Quality plan based upon audit results.
- Review and evaluate outcomes of quality plan and clinical coding audits to make recommendations on the clinical coding education program.
- Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills by liaising with coders, coding management team, clinical documentation specialists and clinicians.
- Assist with development of coding resources including fact sheets and introduction sheets ensuring adherence to Australian Clinical Coding Standards (ACS) Provide individual post audit feedback and support to staff including trainees and clinical coders.
- Continuously update coding knowledge; evaluate practice and engage in peer review to identify professional development needs/opportunities to improve coding performance.

**About You**:

- Completion of a recognised ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS coding course or recognised degree in Health Information Management.
- Experience in staff training/mentoring, development and supervision with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Highly developed organisation, communication and mentoring skills with excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
