About the Role

The Strategic Asset Officer sits in the Asset Management Team, in the City Services division. On a day to day basis, the Strategic Asset Officer will support effective and sustainable lifecycle management of Council's infrastructure assets by providing advice in relation to strategic asset management issues. Liaising with service managers, maintenance managers and other stakeholders, the Strategic Asset Officer will ensure a co-ordinated approach to asset lifecycle management. The exciting part of this role is that you’ll be involved in the development and implementation of Asset Management Plans based on sustainable service delivery, risk management principles and legislative requirements. There is the opportunity to contribute to the ‘way we work’ and continuously improve our tools and processes.

The key to success in your role is to have an analytical approach to problem solving, and taking initiative to identify issues, and having the skills to contribute to strategies as we overcome these challenges.

This role will report to the Coordinator Strategic Asset Management who ensures there is a coordinated and sustainable approach to the whole of life asset management, business improvements and emergency management planning and practice. The role is located at our Operating Centre in Notting Hill.

What you will deliver

Work with service and asset managers managers to develop long term capital works funding requirements

Efficiently and effectively oversee purchasing, payments, contracts, monitoring delivery, reporting and expenditure in accordance with set budgets, including the management and supervision of suppliers ensuring specified contract requirements are met.

What we like about you

Qualification or extensive experience in asset management or similarly related field

Sound understanding of Asset Management Principles in local government context is an advantage

Experience and knowledge of infrastructure asset management including the development and implementation of asset management plans would be ideal but not essential

Experience in developing short, medium and long term infrastructure renewal works program across the broad range of asset portfolio

Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills that provide innovative solutions

A proven record of achievement, dedication and consistent performance
