**The Opportunity**

An exciting opportunity awaits for a Principal Officer, Soil Action to be part of our Major Programs and Regions Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The Principal Officer, Soil Action provides scientific leadership and engagement direction to ensure the effective delivery of the Commonwealth funded ‘Partnering to Implement the National Soil Action Plan 2023-28 program’ in South Australia.

The primary purpose of the role is to create and implement the South Australian Soils Collaboration Centre, oversee the upgrade of the state’s soil information into an accessible data and information bank, and secure the future capacity for SA soil action. The position will stimulate investment in and development of programs and projects consistent with the National Soil Action Plan.

This role aligns with PIRSA’s Strategic, Corporate and Business Plans and leverages investment and co-investment to achieve sustainable economic development.

The position supports the General Manager, Major Programs, by enhancing and growing partnerships with primary industry sectors and Federal, State and Local Government to achieve soil health outcomes and grow the economic contribution of primary industries and agribusiness.

This role is expected to work closely with all divisions across PIRSA to ensure the best outcomes for the project, State and industry.

**Special Conditions**

Term position, ending on 30 June 2028

**Requirements**:

- Possession of a current driver’s licence and willingness to drive.
- Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.

- The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.

**Qualifications**
- Essential: Relevant post-graduate qualification in soil science, agriculture, natural resource management or equivalent.

**Remuneration**

ASO8 - $119,317 min - $123, 822 max per annum, plus superannuation
