**Your new role**:
Data increasingly defines how this business makes decisions, how they operate and how they better understand and serve their customers. They have an appetite to become a data-driven business, which has led to the creation of this role, which seeks to connect business challenges and opportunities with data-led solutions and insights. You'll play a critical role in the development and delivery of business insights and reporting. Ultimately, you'll drive improvement in data maturity, responding to requests and partnering within the business to identify opportunities where data can create value. You'll lead the data and information management team, currently comprising of four data engineers plus vendor resources, so you'll have direct control over both business opportunities and teamwork effort (data demand and supply). You'll also manage the contribution of external data service providers. In summary, data enjoys immense importance and support within the business, with opportunities only increasing. As the most senior data-focussed role in the team, you'll very much be in the data driver's seat.

What will you be accountable for?

Partnering with key business stakeholders and being connected with their areas of the business to identify and pursue opportunities for data-drive decision making, performance outcomes, dashboards and insights;
Managing and prioritising data and reporting initiatives and matching resources to demand;
Driving the data strategy and data roadmaps on data management, data science and data operations;
Helping the business gather, protect and leverage customer data to improve customer experience, attraction and retention;
Managing SOWs, vendor agreements and the performance of vendors;
Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the business understands and meets its responsibilities to data security and privacy;
Maintain a modern technology stack suitable for business needs, audit and compliance (currently Snowflake, PowerBI, Azure Synapse and Dataiku);
Implement data validation procedures, security and controls to ensure accuracy and integrity of data;
Own the end-to-end data delivery process; addressing areas such as data quality, data mining, machine learning and advanced modelling; and

Create and manage strategies for master-data and metadata management.

**About You**:
Strong business acumen, stakeholder management and communication skills. These are the most important attributes of this role;
Proven experience and business exposure in a similar role across Data Leadership or Business Partnership, or a Senior Data Engineer role where you feel you're ready for that next step in your career;
Experience leading or mentoring a small but high performing team;
Experience in the Azure data stack (Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL DW, Azure Data Lake, Azure Analysis Services) and Snowflake highly advantageous;
Experience working in an agile environment and managing a backlog; and

Friendly, dynamic personality with a growth mindset for continuous learning and improvement. A key personality trait of helping others and your organisation through data enabled decision making.
