Reporting directly to the Manager, Australian Operations Centre (CECOER-AU), the Operations Controller is responsible for real time operations and management of Acciona Energia’s generation assets.
Job Description
Join our team as an Operations Controller/ Control Room Operator and be a crucial part of a newly created 24/7 Australian Operations Centre, responsible for real-time operations and management of Acciona Energia’s renewables generation assets. You will oversee data from 5 wind farms across Australia. We are also in the process of constructing the largest wind farm (1,026MW) in the southern hemisphere and have exciting projects in the works around the country.

Roster: 7 leg shift-roster planned 3 months in advance. 12-hour shifts which include a combination of day & night shift patterns optimised to suit circadian rhythms, with good days off between shifts and minimising weekend impacts.

Key responsibilities include:

- Perform the remote operation and real-time supervision of Acciona Energia’s electricity generation facilities.
- Anticipating and minimising system issues to keep assets performing at their best.
- Gathering and sharing information during system disturbances and emergencies.
- Working closely with global operations teams, NSPs, and Australian Energy Markets.
- Supporting on-site staff in system restoration and service tasks.
- Analysing power system conditions and staying aware of the situation.
- Recording and maintaining accurate operational records.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Technical qualification or equivalent experience in Control and Monitoring positions.
- Preferred background from utility, power or process plant operations.
- Knowledge of electrical/mechanical concepts.
- Strong mathematical and computer skills.
- Effective communication abilities with internal and external stakeholders.
- Enjoy working independently and unsupervised during some shift periods, whilst also working collaboratively within a highly skilled team overall. Ability to travel for training to various locations (including international).
