An exciting opportunity for a community engagement professional to be a part of a new team within the Western Public Health Unit (WPHU) that supports and coordinates engagement activities relating to population health and prevention, as well as health protection work across the eight local government areas in the WPHU catchment.

Fixed term position until 30 June 2024.

As a key contributor to the team, you will have a chance to work in collaboration with key partners building relationships with community groups and agencies serving our catchment of eight local council areas. Your role within the multidisciplinary public health team includes, but is not limited to, the following activities;
- actively addressing the engagement requirements of WPHU with a range of communities and groups
- Build and sustain solid relationships and collaborations with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Develop and maintain an understanding of priority areas of public health including population health promotion and health protection, and areas and cohorts of greatest vulnerability
- education and other public health activities with a focus on primary prevention;
- outcomes-based evaluation and research;
- effective interaction/liaison with multidisciplinary teams;
- excellent communication skills both written and verbal; and,
- accurate and timely documentation.

You must have:

- Post secondary studies in health, health promotion, social sciences, community development and/or related health field or equivalent work experience
- Considerable experience (Minimum three years) working in community engagement or related areas in the health, aged care, disability or community services sector
- Experience in planning, implementing and reporting, on community engagement activities
- Extensive community networks/connections and demonstrated relationship building skills for communities in the WPHU catchment
- Effective cross-culture communication skills and extensive experience engaging with diverse organisations and stakeholders
- Excellent health literacy and capacity to communicate health messages to a range of different audiences
- Current drivers licence
