Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.


An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Community Engagement Officer to join our team within the North Eastern Public Health Unit (NEPHU).


The North Eastern Public Health Unit (NEPHU) is one of nine public health units in Victoria; three in metropolitan Melbourne and six covering regional Victoria.

Together these units form a coordinated network, working in partnership with the Department of Health to deliver a comprehensive public health program for Victoria.

NEPHU is led and coordinated by Austin Health and works in partnership with Northern Health and Eastern Health in a networked operational structure responsible for approximately 1.85m people in the northeast of metropolitan Melbourne.


Reporting to the Engagement and Capacity Development Lead, the Community Engagement Officer will contribute to the design, delivery and evaluation of place-based engagement initiatives that support effective public health interventions and outcomes within the NEPHU catchment.

Working collaboratively with stakeholders and community, you will support and foster the development of the pathways, relationships and frameworks required to successfully deliver initiatives across a population with significant cultural, language, health literacy and socioeconomic diversity.


To be successful in this role you must demonstrate

A tertiary qualification in a field related to engagement, social science, communications, community development or other relevant fields, or equivalent relevant experience

Knowledge and understanding of contemporary frameworks and approaches to community engagement in the health and/or not for profit sector with experience working on projects with diverse community groups
:

Significant experience successfully building, developing and managing relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including all levels of government and community groups
:

-
Advanced communication and presentation skills, with demonstrable experience leading co-design processes with large and diverse teams, groups or coalitions to
identify needs and trends and create innovative solutions to complex problems through collaboration and partnership.**:

Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and proven ability and strong track record in efficiently managing tight deadlines and competing priorities
