End User Compute Specialist

The organisation:

- One of Australia’s leading full service commercial law firms_.

The role:
To administer laptop hardware with the aim of ensuring availability of that hardware ready for use by the business.

Maintain the standard software catalogue and the automated deployment process.

Ensure that the laptop fleet remains up to date in terms of critical updates and patches.

Ensure the fleet is optimally configured for performance and security.

**Responsibilities**:
The development and Maintenance of the software deployment service and process
- Packaging, deployment, testing and optimisation of new/updated software - in conjunction with the relevant stakeholders.
- Identify and provide for specific configuration requirements as defined by stakeholders.
- Establish best practise process for the deployment of software to managed hardware and configuration of thereof.
- Continuous review of new security trends and threats with the aim of proactively managing a highly secure desktop environment.
- Maintain detailed documentation of the software catalogue under management - and the processes used to update and deploy.

Management of the laptop fleet hardware including
- Dealing directly with the hardware vendor to facilitate repair or replacement.
- Monitoring the hardware vendor SLA and escalating as required.
- Testing laptops and associated hardware to assure proper operation.
- Maintaining stock forecasts and ordering as required - taking into account supply chain delays.
- Prompt escalation of issues which may impact the availability of laptop hardware and associated hardware.
- Management of physical asset repositories (local and remote) in conjunction with the local office contacts.
- Co-ordinate ad-hoc requests, manage escalations, investigate root cause and ensure that IT hardware is maintained in good working order at all times in conjunction with the vendor.
- Monitor and manage agreed service level agreements (SLA).

Reporting:

- Regular reporting of stock levels (ready and spare) and work in progress.
- Reporting Windows Update and vulnerability status.
- Hardware repairs - including longer term trends.
- New hardware and accessories order status.

Other:

- Liaise with the IT Helpdesk to identify opportunities to optimise the desktop environment.
- Maintain an appropriate level of documented, change control and management methodology.
- Establish and develop reporting automation within technical area of expertise
- Proven technical understanding of IT modern workplace and deployment technologies.
- Effective verbal and written communications skills

Key Skills
- Knowledgeable of laptop hardware - including internal workings.
- Experienced with Microsoft Intune/Endpoint Manager, Azure Active Directory and Microsoft Office 365 including Power Apps.
- Is highly organised and proactive.
- Able to effectively manage priority in demanding situations.
