**The Role**

CapabilityOne is an Information Communication Technology (ICT) system that manages information
related to the One Defence Capability System and the Defence Integrated Investment
Program. Under broad direction, the successful applicants will manage and lead work priorities and
strategies to meet business outcomes through engagement with stakeholders across Defence. The
role is expected to support an environment that promotes creativity and innovation.

The following are the key duties for the role:

- Identify and undertake analysis to define, structure, solve and provide advice on complex data problems, including gathering and exploring data and meta-data from a variety of sources;
- Understand and utilise analytical tools and techniques to define, structure and solve complex problems;
- Responsible for the ethical use of data and interpreting and complying with legislation, Defence policy and regulatory frameworks including data management requirements; and

**About our Team**
Investment Portfolio Management Branch supports the highest-level decision makers in Defence

and government by providing independent analysis and advice to deliver a more capable Australian

Defence Force (ADF). We directly support the Vice Chief of the Defence Force in his role as Chair of

the Investment Committee and we are an influential voice with the ability to shape and assure

outcomes on the big investment decisions for the ADF.

CapabilityOne is used to produce reports and dashboards to inform decisions by users and senior

executives. As CapabilityOne enhances and continues to capture data, it will have the ability to produce a wider variety of data products with the intention to deliver advanced analytics in the future.

The short answer: people with integrity, curiosity, resilience, a willingness to learn, the ability to work

effectively in a dynamic team, within a high tempo environment and a wish to deliver better Defence

outcomes. Do not worry about experience - if you have already worked in a related field then you will

know what this work entails.

Investment Portfolio Management Branch is unique, so we welcome new starters who have

demonstrated high-level stakeholder engagement (including cross-agency), strong analytical and

critical thinking skills, good written and oral communication, sound professional judgement and a

desire to learn about the Defence capability system.
