What does the job look like?
As the Planning Manager your role is to ensure all planning practices for our Rail & Road network are commercial/operationally optimised, compliant and deliver a high standard of customer service to our stakeholders. You will also be responsible for driving change within the business unit, implementing new strategies and ideas to improve systems/processes and ensuring KPIs are met. This role will be based in West Melbourne and is Mon - Fri 10am - 6pm. Key areas:
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day planning ensuring revenue yield of each load is maximized through correct container and mode selection.
- Liaise with customer service, internal operations, and external operations teams to ensure that all movements are executed in accordance with daily plan.
- Work with key customer teams to ensure forecast visibility. Use the forecast to guide future planning requirements i.e., resources required and produce a rolling forecast by corridor.
- Collaborate with operational stakeholders to ensure that plan sets up operational teams for success i.e., achievable timeslots.
- Develop the planning team and ensure cross functional coverage across team i.e., Planners can plan multiple customers, modes, and corridors.
- Identify opportunities for planning related cost reduction and operational process improvement as part of ongoing network continuous improvement efforts.
