Position Summary

The Housing and Specialised Service Group collects and analyses data to support reporting and policy

decisions on the health and welfare of, and provision of services to, a range of Australians. This includes the

use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, and related treatment services; homelessness; adoption; child

protection and youth justice; and the health and welfare of people in prison.

The Housing and Homelessness Collections Operations Unit (HHCOU) manages a data collection for funded

Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) agencies on behalf of States and Territories. HHCOU undertakes the

operations of collecting homelessness services data directly from data providers and supports them through

a dedicated support hotline. In addition, the unit also manages and delivers a national training program to

homelessness case workers on SHS data concepts, and associated data collection tools and systems.

HHCOU is looking to fill the following two (2) roles to support the operational data collection of the Specialist

Homelessness Services Collection (SHSC):
SHSC Training Officer

The SHSC Training Officer provides training to the homelessness sector workers, both face-to-face training

and webinar training. The SHSC Training Officer requires qualifications such as in education, teaching,

training and assessment, or the equivalent. The position requires organisation of training schedules, liaison

with NGO providers and State and Territory jurisdictions, and the provision of an agreed 75 to 80 training

sessions each year, consisting of webinars and face-to-face training. The position also develops training

materials and on-line training courses. The ability to conduct end-user acceptance testing of the client

management system and understanding of data collection concepts will be required.

SHSC Hotline Supervisor

The SHSC Hotline Supervisor manages the day-to-day operation of the SHSC Hotline team, including

managing 2 hotline staff. The team provides conceptual and technical assistance to over 1,700 organisations,

resolving data and system issues. The SHSC Hotline Supervisor requires demonstrated experience in

delivering high quality customer-focused service, excellent attention to detail, and effective communication,

interpersonal, management and organisational skills. The ability to learn about the collection of SHSC data

will be required.
