**About the Branch**:
The branch objectives are:

- Develop the Information Management Function,
- Facilitate access to records and establish standards for Record Management,
- Foster collaborative internal and external relationships,
- Lead strategic direction for technology services within the agency,
- Optimise ICT operations to meet client needs and allocated budget,
- Promote sound project management and change management practices,
- Continually improve the efficient use of existing investment, and
- Implement the Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprises (SAFe).

**About the Section**:
The DSB’s Digital Governance Section:

- Manages finance and contract management for the branch,
- Liaises with the agency procurement team, on behalf of the branch; and
- Provides information governance for the agency; including records management and privacy.

**Role Responsibilities and Duties**:
The information governance function is responsible for information management and privacy. The function is undergoing a capability uplift to improve the CER’s compliance with records keeping requirements and information management principles. This capability uplift is driven by the information governance team, and involves agency-wide change.

Duties of the Assistant Manager include but are not limited to:

- Lead and refine the capability uplift project.
- Provide high-quality support and guidance to ensure that agency information is available to staff as required, and appropriately archived or destroyed, as it reaches its designated and sentencing date.
- Provide complex responses to privacy matters; including internal and external privacy enquiries, any data breaches, privacy complaints, and requests for access to and correction of personal information made under the Privacy Act.
- Oversee the development and promotion of information management and privacy plans and policies; ensuring that work aligns with agency priorities, relevant legislation, National Archives of Australia (NAA) guidance, Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) guidance, and industry practice.
- Oversee the maintenance of the agency's record of personal information holdings, and register of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs).
- Manage the preparation of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) as required.
- Oversee procurement and contract management for information management, and privacy-related expenditure.
- Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate change.
- Oversee agency participation in external information governance management, privacy committees and forums (e.g. with the NAA and OAIC).
- Build capability in a team environment through coaching others, providing performance feedback, conflict resolution and encouraging career development.
- Prepare and review draft policy reports, briefing papers.
- Contribute to branch planning and innovation activities.

**Qualifications/Experience**:
**Essential**
- Understanding of government record keeping and privacy obligations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience at developing and implementing plans and policies.
- Experience leading and implementing projects.

**Desirable**

The following experience will be highly regarded:

- Experience with Microsoft SharePoint or the AvePoint Records software tool (or similar technology).
- Training, qualifications or experience in information management and/or privacy.
