Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Area Manager South will lead a geographically diverse and customer-focused water and sewerage operations team towards the achievement of customer, compliance, technical and safety objectives. You will oversee effective planning, scheduling and execution of maintenance and service to assets within the region, with a focus on introducing consistent standards and processes from a technical perspective, ensuring assets are managed consistently, and incidents are responded to in a timely and appropriate manner. You will manage a geographically dispersed team and spend time on various sites to ensure your team are supported to deliver on their roles. You will play a key organisational leadership role, collaborating across the business and setting your team and the broader service delivery function up for success.

To be successful in this role you will be a proven operational manager with experience in leading large, geographically dispersed teams. You will be an excellent people leader, enjoying the challenges and rewards of developing a team from a cultural and technical perspective, while also focusing on bringing a ‘customer first’ mindset to the team. Whilst being an experienced technical leader in water and sewerage operations is preferred, experience in managing a team of technical staff in a related operational asset industry will also be considered. A qualification is not mandatory, as your proven experience in prioritising environmental and health outcomes, taking a ‘safety first’ approach, and ensuring customer-centricity in your ways of working will lead to your continued success in this important role.

Please note this role will cover the Hobart, Huon Valley and East Coast, and will require travel within the region. The role will also form a part of the Emergency Management Response Team, on a six-week rotating roster.
