Canberra, Australia ASIO Full time

**The Organisation**

The Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) protects Australia and Australians from threats to their security. In a complex, challenging and changing security environment, our success is built on the imagination and intelligence of our team. ASIO's people are ordinary Australians but they do extraordinary things - they are our most important asset. To be successful in our mission, we need talented people who are highly capable, dedicated, adaptable and resilient.

**The Opportunity**

The Pay Services Team in the Finance and Pay Services Branch provides a critical function in the day to day operations of ASIO.

We are seeking enthusiastic team players who care about ensuring people get paid correctly and on time. Whilst previous payroll experience is desirable, it's not essential, you just need to love numbers.

We are seeking officers who are self-motivated, willing to learn (on the job training will be provided) and have a desire for providing exceptional customer service to our staff.

As a dedicated team player, you will have a confident and approachable manner with excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport. Your administrative and organisational skills, along with your attention to detail will ensure Pay Services achieves its deliverables. You will have an ability to lead, train, mentor and support junior team members within the team.

The Pay Services area is a busy and dynamic environment where innovation and business process improvement are encouraged.

- Have excellent attention to detail and the ability to review and quality control the work undertaken by others.

**AE6 Payroll Officers**

As an AE6 Payroll Officer in ASIO, you will be required to:

- Prepare, deliver and provide advice on complex pay management, strategy, procedures and policy.
- Engage with stakeholders on complex payroll issues, in order to provide and obtain information to resolve complex payroll issues.
- Allocate work, resources and tasks and set work area priorities to meet work area outcomes.
- Develop and generate information and reporting detailing business achievements, trends and improvement recommendations within the payroll function.

**What you will bring**
- A logical mind with strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and an aptitude for finance related tasks.
- Ability to adapt to and use a range of software.
- AE5 and AE6 - Prior experience (commensurate with level) in a payroll related area.
- Experience in managing and coaching staff (at the AE6 level).
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including a strong attention to detail.

**What we offer you**

- Employer superannuation contributions of 15.4 per cent.
- A variety of leave options, including 4 weeks annual leave.
