In 2021, the Victorian Government announced the investment of $148.2 million in developing the Academy.

The Regional Division hosts' state-wide professional learning managed through the Leadership Excellence and Teaching Excellence Divisions by leading localised regional-based engagement and delivery of professional learning, including across all school sectors. Each Regional Centre includes a local team that understands the local school community and facilitates their engagement in professional learning.
The focus of this role is to coordinate activities in the division across all regional sites state-wide. This role links into the Department of Education's central divisions and will manage state-wide regional engagement. The role will undertake planning and reporting to ensure priorities are met through efficient and effective resource management.
The role will lead strategic projects on behalf of the division, including the potential for leadership and coordination of the Department of Education's Area Principal Forums, the annual Government School Principal Conference, and communications to teachers and school leaders on behalf of the division.
Key areas of responsibility for this role include:
- Stakeholder engagement and management
- Program/project coordination and engagement
- Contract management and procurement responsibilities
- Thought leadership and expert advice in the provision of professional learning in region.
