The SSP Student Coach will be employed and based within Swinburne’s Secondary Program (SSP) teaching department at both Croydon and Wantirna campuses.

This role will work individually with SSP incoming and continuing students, and in consultation with the student, develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) to facilitate student success, wellbeing and retention. Through coaching and mentoring and monitoring of ILPs, the Student Coach will maximise the opportunities for students to complete their training and to pathway through to further education, training, or employment. In addition, they will be supported by the staff of SSP and report to the Course Coordinator and SSP Manager.

The Student Coach role requires a highly motivated and determined vocational/employment services worker who has experience providing a broad range of educational support, pathway and career advice, including supporting disadvantaged learners.

**About You**
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
The SSP Student Coach may be required to work across all Swinburne campuses and locations to support learners to:

- Assist with student orientation and use of Swinburne facilities
- Address barriers that are affecting student ability to remain engaged and successfully complete their education.
- Provide advice on options and next steps in their learning, career, and employment journey, working closely with the SSP Career Adviser.
- Develop ILP’s with learners and regularly meet to update plan stated goals and monitor achievement of planned strategies and activities.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to learners.
- Provide workshops where relevant and required.
- Facilitate access to Swinburne students supports and services

**Qualifications**
- Relevant post-graduate or vocational qualification in Career Development, Vocational Training and Assessment and/or significant experience. OR
- A degree with subsequent relevant experience, or extensive experience and specialist expertise or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
