**SC5** Demonstrated ability to model behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values and support colleagues to adopt these behaviours and attitudes. **Role**:
Leading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range. The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school.

Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching and using processes that develop knowledge, practice and professional engagement in others.

Leading teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program.

Leading teachers will be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school. A leading teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals.

Leading teachers are usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.

**Responsibilities**:

- The Head of Year works collaboratively to build highly effective teams that improves the quality of teaching and learning in their designated year level. They are champions of the School Strategic Plan (SSP) and work relentlessly to ensure the effective implementation of the Key Improvement Strategies and Targets. Leading Teachers: - Lead and manage school improvement within the agreed College processes and the School Strategic Plan. - They champion the SWPBS Expectations and implement positive reinforcement systems at a classroom and cohort level for positive student learning behaviours.
- They are excellent classroom teachers providing: instructional leadership to teachers and Professional Learning Teams, and feedback to support the development of high-quality classroom practice in every classroom. Head of Year Specific Responsibilities Leading Strategic Direction - Lead and develop year level teachers as a learning community consistent with the College Vision, Mission and Values. - Develop an annual Key Improvement Strategy Plan (KISP) that aligns leadership with the SSP. - Provide educational and strategic leadership in the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of their year level program at the college. Leading Staff - Accountable for the work of their year level Team Leaders. - Lead by modelling, articulating, monitoring and coaching the behaviours required for Sub School Team Leaders and STARR Connect teachers to effectively perform their roles. - Lead Professional Learning Teams to deliver high quality and effective teaching and learning practices. - Coaching staff through the MSC coaching program in both instructional practice and positive behaviour strategies.- Liaise with the Learning Specialists to deliver high quality teaching and learning programs.
- Leading Sub School Administration - Manage all associated budgets and resources. - Coordinate Year level specific events
