**The Assisted School Travel Program**

The Assisted School Travel Program (ASTP) plays a significant role in meeting the needs of eligible students with disability by providing free specialised transport to and from school where parents and carers are unable to provide or arrange transport to the student either fully or in part. The program provides around 3,000 individual transport services through contracted service providers, free of charge to approximately 11,000 students across NSW in both government and non-government schools

**About the role**

The role identifies, develops, delivers and evaluates training programs for Assisted Travel Support Officers (ATSOs) and other stakeholders to support the effective and safe delivery of services by ATSO’s.

**Sk**ills and Experience**
- Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment or teaching qualifications and substantial training experience
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

**Essential requirements of the role**
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education
- Travel throughout New South Wales is also an essential part of this role
- Hold a valid clearance to work with children (Working with Children Check) for paid employment
