About the role

This is a full-time permanent opportunity.

Reporting to the Manager Health, Safety, Risk and Training, you will lead the training competency management scheme and systems, including management of compliance, governance, development and deployment of the training systems and processes to the IMC operations.

Managing a central training team of training specialists, you will provide coaching and specialist support to them, the site training officers and senior and operational leadership teams to embed changes and maintain competency and role compliance.

Key accountabilities -

• Lead and demonstrate a commitment to health, safety, training and sustainable development through personal behaviours and visible leadership
• Demonstrate leadership through personal behaviours that are consistent with South32's Values; Trust, Care, Togetherness and Excellence and the Code of Business Conduct
• Facilitate the review and implementation of training standards, policies and procedures to ensure legislative compliance
• Drive improvement initiatives to optimise the utilisation of business processes, practices and systems to improve the overall performance of the training function
• Manage onboarding of employees and contract employee validation processes
• Establish and maintain service agreements with training providers and optimise the training effectiveness and outcomes.

Previous experience leading teams in an operational environment in safety is essential.

To be considered for the role, you will have:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in either Audit learning/HR/similar or relevant trade/engineering degree is desirable
• Certificate IV Training and Assessment (TAE40116)
• In depth knowledge and understanding of Nationally Recognised Training and Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) Standards, Ability to develop Nationally Recognised Training Packages
• Proven skillset in developing, communicating and influencing operational practice within training compliance
• Knowledge of key concepts, theories and practices related to the effective management of training principles and compliance related risks.

Location
This position will be based at the Regional Operations Centre, Port Kembla Coal Terminal in Wollongong, NSW.
