THE ROLE

Current teaching needs include the new Major and Masters in Artificial Intelligence in the Faculty of Science, as well as teaching in Philosophy. You will also lead and collaborate on research projects in the ethics and philosophy of AI and technology, while supervising Higher Degree Research students.

ABOUT YOU

You will have a demonstrated track record of exceptional teaching and research practice, with expertise in teaching the Philosophy or Ethics of Artificial Intelligence or closely related topics. You will have experience in successfully delivering a superior student experience to a diverse student cohort at undergraduate level. You will be able to collaboratively contribute to the ongoing success of delivering the Department of Philosophy’s research and teaching goals.

Philosophers with expertise in the philosophy and ethics of AI and new technologies are encouraged to apply. Areas of interest include: digital technologies; automated decision-making; gender and technology; AI and agency; AI and cognition; AI and epistemology; and ethical AI.

Essential:
- PhD in a relevant area of Philosophy;- Evidence of ability to design, co-ordinate and deliver undergraduate education in Philosophy, including through online programs;- Evidence of contribution to the co-ordination of large undergraduate programs, including methods in delivering a superior student experience and engagement;- Established research track record of high-quality peer reviewed publications, including a list of publications;- Excellent communication skills, with an ability to build rapport and relate to staff and students from all backgrounds and to represent the Department to external stakeholders, including the general public.

Desirable:
- Teaching experience in ethics, epistemology or philosophy of mind;- Experience in the supervision of Higher Degree Research Students;-
- Demonstrated commitment to principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
