**Position Information**:
St Ives High School is a comprehensive coeducational high school with a current enrolment in excess of 1730 students.
32% of students are from non-English speaking backgrounds and the gender balance is approximately 57% boys and 43%
girls. The school has a Hearing Support Unit, an Intensive English Centre, a long running gifted and talented program
valued by the school community and a substantial learning and support program also valued by the community.
The school runs a BYOD program that enables extensive online learning delivery. There have been significant advances in
infrastructure in recent years resulting in improved teaching and learning facilities including a new gym which is about to be extended, in a joint project with Ku-ring-gai Council. The school’s curriculum structure is based on KLAs and the school
runs a substantial student wellbeing program. There is a mix of early career and experienced teachers who have played a
significant role in improved HSC results in recent years. The school has an active, supportive and highly engaged P&C and the community has high expectations for student involvement and achievement.

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Proven leadership of a Learning Support faculty to deliver high-quality teaching and support to students with additional learning needs. Ability to lead, liaise and coordinate Departmental and external support services to meet the specific learning needs of students.
- Proven ability to innovate, problem solve and build the capacity of staff to cater for the diverse needs of students to improve student learning and engagement.
- Demonstrated capacity as a dynamic member of the school leadership team to foster school-wide practices of inclusion and equity with an approachable and proactive leadership style, and the ability to engage and inspire staff, parents, students, and the wider community.
- Highly developed communication and organisational skills that foster positive relationships with all stakeholders to collaborate, develop and implement strategies for individualised support, transition, behaviour and well-being needs of students.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
