The Community Engagement Officer is the face of a variety of exciting engagement initiatives and programs aimed at fostering a sense of belonging and social connectedness within residential housing communities owned and managed by City West Housing, an affordable housing company operating in the City of Sydney

City West Housing (CWH) is an independent not-for-profit housing provider with a focus on developing and delivering affordable rental housing. CWH invests in the communities in which it operates, working closely with a range of partners to build stronger communities. It is proud to house 1,600 residents across nearly 900 homes in the City of Sydney. Its purpose is to build stronger communities and improve people’s lives by providing affordable housing, and the Community Engagement Officer is crucial to fulfilling this purpose.

**Role responsibilities**
- Develop, implement, maintain and evaluate a variety of community development and engagement programs which target both individual and collective needs.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with partners and key stakeholders to enhance the community presence of CWH, and thus, extend its reach to people in need of our services.
- Build strong relationships with residents through regular and enthusiastic interactions, to maximise resident participation in programs and activities.
- Collaborate with peers and leverage opportunities to increase resident engagement with programs and identify potential improvements to service delivery both within and outside their area of responsibility

**Essential Requirements**
- Highly proficient written and verbal skills, including the ability to develop, structure and present a community engagement plan that is sustainable and builds upon existing programs within the business
- Adept ability to learn quickly and is genuinely interested in their own work, as well as the work of their peers
- Skilled at balancing face-to-face engagement work with administrative and planning tasks.
- A passion and enthusiasm for true community building, and the commitment to drive outcomes for CWH’s residents and stakeholders.
- A valid drivers license (transportation will be provided)

**Desirable Requirements**
- A tertiary degree in Social Work, Community Engagement, Community Services or related area of study would be ideal, but not essential.
- Experience working as a Project Officer or related occupational background.
